A HISTORY
In 1978, 20-year-old William (Bill) Ptacek graduated from the Machine Tooling program at North Dakota State School of Science. Back in his hometown of Oakes, ND, he was encouraged to open his own farm repair shop. He started out in a small 30 x 30 building on the Southwest end of town.
In the last 40 years, Kustom Machine has grown from a one man repair shop to a 30,000 sq ft production machine shop with a team of 23 technically trained and experienced machinists, welders, repair specialists and office administration. Over the years we have continually invested in the latest technology to meet customers’ needs more efficiently and affordably. Facility capabilities have expanded to include water jet (precision cutting), press brake , nine production weld stalls, seven CNC machining centers, saw mill, and multiple manual tooling machines, allowing them to take a project from prototype to production and meet a customer’s needs at any stage inbetween.
